How it works
Detailed guideStep 1
Create your household
Create a private household. Start recording on your own and invite the people you live with whenever you’re ready. Only household members can see your activity.
Step 2
Record completed tasks
Select completed tasks—or use a saved routine—and confirm who did them and when. Each task has a token value that estimates the effort involved.

- Household planning & coordination×12
- Load dishwasher×11
- Clean living room2

Step 3
Review the week together
See who did what during the week, recognise each other’s effort, and talk about what would help next.

Recognise effort. Support each other.
Small ways to appreciate each other and coordinate everyday work.
Recognise the effort
Send Thanks on a completed task, with an optional private message.
Your household can see who sent Thanks. Only you and the people listed as having done that task can see your written message.
Ask for support
Privately ask a household member for help with a task.
Only you and the person you asked can see the request and any message you include.
Share what you prefer
Let your household see which tasks you prefer doing.
Everyone in your household can see your preferences, but anyone can still do the task. Preferences don’t change anyone’s tokens.
Turn your weekly picture into one practical change.
Appreciate what was done, ask for help where it is needed, then decide what to change together — not chase a perfect 50/50 score. The picture only includes work your household has recorded.
A weekly check-in might lead to one simple agreement: “I’ll handle bedtime on Tuesday and Thursday.”

FAQ
How do tokens work?
Each task has a token value that estimates the effort involved. When you record completed tasks, those tokens help show how the household work is shared.
Do I have to record every task separately?
No. Select several completed tasks and save them together, or use a saved routine to quickly select tasks you often do. Missed a few days? You can record work for multiple days at once, covering today and the previous seven calendar days.
Do Thanks, preferences or Ask for help change tokens?
No—none of these changes anyone’s tokens. Thanks lets you show appreciation. Preferences tell your household which tasks you like doing, but anyone can still do them. Ask for help lets you privately ask one household member for support.
What happens when someone is Away?
If someone is unavailable, you can mark them as Away. Fair Nesting takes those days into account when showing their expected share of the work and how regularly they record tasks. Their past contributions stay in the history.
Do we have to split everything exactly 50/50?
No. What feels fair can be different for every household. Fair Nesting shows the work you’ve recorded so you can recognise each other’s effort and talk about what would help.
Can I belong to more than one household?
Yes. You can join more than one household using the same account and switch between them from Home. Each household has its own subscription, managed by that household’s owner, which covers everyone in that household. Joining an existing household doesn’t start a new trial or require a separate subscription for you. If you own multiple households, each needs its own subscription after its trial ends.
How does the free trial and billing work?
- Try Fair Nesting free for 30 days, with no card required. You’ll only pay if you choose to subscribe.
- It costs £3.99 a month for your household, covering up to 5 members. If you subscribe during your trial, your first payment is taken when the trial ends. You’ll see the payment date before you confirm.
- The household owner can cancel through Settings → Manage billing. Cancelling stops renewal. If you’ve already paid, access continues until the end of that paid period. If you cancel during the trial before your first payment, you won’t be charged.
- If your trial or paid access ends, you can still view your history. Adding, editing or undoing task records pauses until the household owner subscribes again.
Who can see our household activity?
Your task records and contribution totals are shared with the current members of your household. Task preferences and who sent Thanks are also visible to them.
Written thank-you messages are only visible to the sender and the people credited on that task. Help requests are private between the person asking and the person they ask.
